PSC to Present Program on the Ugandan Civil War

Students in the Cadre program at Polk State College’s Chain of Lakes Collegiate High School and the Invisible Children organization will present a documentary and discussion about the suffering in Uganda on Oct. 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Student Center, Winter Haven campus. The event is free.

The film will focus on the civil war in Uganda and the practice of using child soldiers. Special guest will be Monica, a university student in Uganda who has been affected by the Civil War in Uganda. Monica is attending a university in Uganda because of assistance provided by the Invisible Children’s Legacy Scholarship Program. The Invisible Children is a charity that strives for peace in Uganda by raising awareness and providing services to children caught in this devastating conflict.

This is the third straight year that the Leadership Cadre is hosting the Invisible Children at Polk State.  For more information call 863-298-6800.
